Power Games
Gender Competence in Science

Power in academia is rarely exercised openly. It works through access, visibility, attribution and the question of who is heard in which room. This workshop treats gender as a structural category of the science system rather than as a private problem, and connects research on second-generation gender bias with the everyday reality of committees, appointment procedures and research groups. Participants leave with a sharper reading of the games being played around them – and with a realistic set of moves of their own.

Key areas

• Power, status and dominance behaviour in academic settings
• Second-generation gender bias: what the research shows and where it becomes tangible • Gender competence as a leadership qualification rather than an add-on
• Options for action in committees, appointment procedures and research groups
